Lawrence J. Carle is a retired orchestra and band director from Des Plaines School District 62, and currently teaches private lessons. He has served as a respected judge for a wide variety of student musical competitions in the Chicagoland area. Mr. Carle is a member of the Music Educators' National Conference, National Band Association, World Association of Symphonic Bands & Ensembles, Association of Concert Bands, Inc, which promotes the formation of community bands throughout the United States, The Conductor's Guild, which advances the art, and he has been selected in "Who's Who in the Midwest". He has also served as guest conductor for various community bands and orchestras in the northwest suburban area. Mr. Carle holds a degree with a double major in Elementary Education and Music Education from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, and has been the conductor for the Des Plaines Park District Community concert Band since it was formed in January 1983. Larry's wife of 25 years, Brenda, served as band mom and librarian to the Des Plaines Park District Community Concert Band until her passing in 2007. She touched the lives of all who knew her and is sorely missed. The band wears blue and white ribbon pins in her memory during every performance. |
