The purpose of the band is to contribute positively to the musical environment of the area it serves, to provide opportunity for individual musical expression and growth among its members, to serve as a recreational outlet for musicians, and to reaffirm the community band tradition by broadening appreciation of the range and depth of music only a concert band can offer. |

The park district sponsored band is a non-profit organization consisting of approximately 50 people of all ages, backgounds, musical ability, and occupations. Each member volunteers his or her time and talent to be a part of this organization. There is no audition requirement to join the band. |
